Press release – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle and charged the occupants under the Highway Traffic Act.
On July 6, 2022, at 4:40 p.m., members of the OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on McGill Street in the Town of Hawkesbury. The driver was charged for having an insecure load regarding a table sticking out of the back of the vehicle.
The passenger, who was sitting on the floor of the vehicle, charged for not wearing a seatbelt and not occupying a proper seat.
The OPP would like to remind drivers to make sure that when travelling on the highways, that this is done safely, for them and others and that seatbelts do save lives, but more importantly it is mandatory to wear them.
