Communiqué – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested two vehicle thieves in Hawkesbury.
On May 29, 2022 at 4:00 a.m., on Cameron Street in the Town of Hawkesbury, officer’s intercepted two individuals in a vehicle who were in possession of tools that facilitate the theft of vehicles.
Ramiz IBRAHIM, 31 years old man, from Ottawa was charged with:
· Possession of Automobile master Key tool
· Possession of break in instruments
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the L’Orignal Court of Justice on July 6, 2022
Ahmad Shahin MOHAMMAD NAZIM, 32 year old man, from Ottawa was charged with:
· Possession of Automobile master Key tool
· Possession of break in instruments
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
· Obstruct peace officer
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
The accused was detained and is scheduled to appear at the l »Orignal Court of Justice on May 30, 2022.
You can help prevent theft by following some crime prevention tips:
· Always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key.
· If you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle.
· Park other vehicles behind your high value vehicle to act as a deterrent to thieves.
· Install an aftermarket anti-theft device in your vehicle in a location not easily visible.
· Install a third party GPS tracking device in the vehicle.
· Keep your vehicle key fobs in a Faraday Box.
· Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.
