Press release – The Member of Parliament for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell is certainly going out on a high note. The 7th Annual Francis Drouin Memorial Golf Tournament, in support of United Way – which Francis hosted for the last time – was a huge success.
Thanks to sponsors, partners, and participants, more than $36,000 will help build a brighter future for those feeling isolated in our communities.
“I’m an MP, but it’s not about me, it’s about United Way and the barriers they are breaking,” said Francis. “I’m glad to see so many businesses, so many not-for-profits joining in [to support] this great cause.”
Friday, August 19 was a gorgeous day to be on the links at Casselview Golf and Country Club. More than 110 golfers teed up for charity, to improve equity, wellbeing, and connections.
Francis was proud of the longevity of his tournament and thankful to see so many participants over the years.
“It’s emotional [to be hosting the tournament for the last time], and I know we’re changing the format next year, but I will always be involved. It’s great to see some of the folks who were here in year one who are still here and it’s also great to see the folks who weren’t here in year one and are here today. I think that’s a testament to the cause.”
